Duties

• Responsible for providing care to all passengers
• Usually see patients in the morning and afternoon who require a medical consultation
• Must be on-call at all hours in the case of an emergency
• Provide in-patient nursing care to all guests and crew
• Ability to independently start treatment and stabilize patients in serious/critical conditions
• Prescribe appropriate medication and conduct necessary tests
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date log of care on the appropriate medical records
• Perform diagnostic tests, X-rays, and treatments
• Dispense medications under physician’s orders
• Order and record controlled substances in accordance with the DEA regulations
• Control and maintain inventory of medical supplies according to established procedural guidelines
• Liaise with port agents to arrange shore side specialty consultations/care
• Treat, document, and report communicable or potentially communicable illnesses as mandated or requested by USPH and the CDC
• Share departmental administrative responsibilities with physician
• Uphold a high standard of service
• Ensure OH&S practices are implemented and followed
• Report to the Hotel Manager and Captain

Qualifications/Experience

• Minimum of 3 - 4 years of clinical experience
• Must have 18 months' experience of emergency work
• Registered nurse licensure
• Excellent physical and mental health
• Fluency in English
